HISTORY
Australia's First progressive Striptease Billboard.
The billboard was situated on the M1 freeway near Beenleigh in Brisbane. It was an innovative advertisement for Catharine's on the Gold Coast's. A large agency supplying erotic dancers and topless waitresses throughout Australia. The billboard drew huge amounts of criticism from the public and authorities stating that it it was immoral and would cause traffic accidents.
"I put up the billboard to promote myself and my company with a big bang. I had been crowned Miss Nude Queensland and I wanted the world to know. The whole project was a huge success to the point that the world did know. I had the media following me everywhere and peaking over my fence. I took part in interviews for newspapers and television from all over the world including the BBC in London to some obscure paper in Belgium."
The image of Catherine was slowly stripped to reveal a white bikini top and bottom. The publicity achieved by the media and the protests that the bikini should not be removed, attracted the attention of someone who decided they would take it on themselves to remove the bikini. For a few hours Catherine appeared tastefully naked. During this time no accidents occured, however the council was in uproar and demanded the bikini to be painted on permanently. The billboard remained that way for the duration. Although the idea didn't reach the end stage as planned it still gaveCatherine a lot of publicity.
"I want to stare down at the drivers, naked and larger than life, and have the same traffic-stopping effect we have seen at Dreamworld's Tower of Terror."
"I am proud of my body and I don't mind showing it off to promote my business... any objections will be motivated by repressed sexual problems or catty jealously. Every week hundreds of men see me perform and I don't get complaints from them."
